GOAL: RESILIENCE

Calm down, you're doing just FINE.

The world is mediocre, and you give humans too much credit.

It's hard to tell because the media focuses on only the flashy, successful, cool stories, but the majority of the world is actually pretty average, boring, and bordering mediocre.

Nobody knows that they're doing.

The older you get, the more you'll notice: Companies are run by idiots, your bosses know less than you, mistakes happen daily in any establishment, things take longer than you think they should, your parents (who acted like they knew everything) were wrong about everything.

People are panicked, confused, anxious. They are insomniacs. They miss their freeway exits. They mess up simple instructions. They flirt with their committed coworkers. They make silly choices and invariably trudge, by free will, the needlessly difficult path.

Your life might seem like a dumpster fire, but rest assured, everybody's lives are dumpster fires.

It doesn't matter whose life, even if it looks great from the outside:

  • That intelligent CEO with the million-dollar paycheck, targeted by his own board that wants his status.
  • That middle-class mom with her 3 kids and fully-paid house, and her secret browser folder of divorce lawyers' websites.
  • That good-looking influencer with thousands of admirers and his choice of lovers, but who drowns away his loneliness in drugs.

Nobody is spared. We're all idiots. We all make mistakes. We all fuck up very, very badly.

So take a deep breath...

Believe me, you're doing just fine. 🦋

SELF-DISCOVERY

  1. Describe a major way in which your life is a dumpster fire.

  2. What is the worst case scenario?

  3. If that worse case scenario came to pass, how would you handle it, whether realistically or emotionally?
